Alternative Energy

Here are three ways to power your RV without Plugging in to the local Power Company

Alternative # 1 Buy a Generator

For years Generators have been a popular option.  Many people use them, but they aren't allowed in many RV parks because of the noise.  Increasing fuel costs, size, and weight are other factors to consider before purchasing. Generators have many positive attributes.  A properly maintained unit will start with the push of a button.  Many generators are very quiet.  A portable generator can be used with or without the RV, or even used to power multiple RV's.   After considering all of the options and features if you would like to purchase a generator, RV Country can help.  We will match the appropriate size unit to your needs with a phone call.

Alternative # 2 Solar Power!

Want a quiet system that does not require fuel, does not pollute or take up valuable space?  A Solar Energy System may be what you need.  Solar Energy is the most popular aftermarket option today.  According to the RVDA, 35% more people  bought  RV's and added solar systems in the last market year.

Solar Power has many benefits:

  • The price of a Solar Energy System is often less than the cost of a generator.
  • It is quiet and can be used in all RV parks.
  • The equipment is lightweight and spacesaving.
  • Maintenance is easy!
Once installed, a Solar Energy System consists of the Solar Panel (to charge your battery), a Solar Regulator (to regulate your charge to the battery), the Battery (or batteries), and an inverter (to convert 12 volt DC power to 120 volt AC power).  Once installed there is no fuel to add (your battery serves as the fuel tank), no equipment to move around, and very little maintenance. Solar Energy Systems can be added to and upgraded to meet changing needs.  Panels can be added for faster charging, batteries can be added for more reserve capacity, the inverter can be upgraded to provide more power output.  RV Country can help select a system that is right for you.

Alternative #3: Harness The Wind

If you're in a windy location, a Wind Generator (windmill or turbine) is another option. They range in size from large enough to power a small town to small portable units that can be used to provide power to your RV. Wind Generators can be used for battery charging or to power your appliances directly. Occaisionally, the power provided may actually exceed the power needed. If installed properly, this will cause the electric meter to turn backwards. By law, the electric company pays YOU.

For expert installation and service call RV Country at 928-443-1848. We handle all types of RV related power systems and are located in sunny, often windy Prescott, AZ.
